Confusing manual

I bought myself a Ioptron CEM25P. I was attracted by the design of the mount and its weight vs load capacity.
Looking on Youtube you will find a costumer of Ioptron on a CES event demonstrating the Tensionknobs .
This little demonstration, and the confusing text in the manual caused me a lot of trouble.
I suggest that Ioptron puts an exploded view of the gears and how thy mesh. And that they pay more attention to didactics in their manual.
At the end I screwed the “black box” open from the DEC-axis. Viewing the construction made it all clear to me.
- When you buy a light mount, its weight will not contribute to stability!! So, take that in account when buying a tripod. An also lightweight tripod will furthermore contribute to the destabilization of the rig.
- I bought myself a tripod with the 50 mm diameter legs. Put it on a trolley, and secured the trolley on a tiled place in my backyard. No problems in slewing or guiding so far.
- When the rig is instable, de DEC en RA motors will pull on the whole rig, especially with long refractors, and that will cause slewing problems as s lipping, with to tight tensonknobs as a result etc.
- With reading the manual I became very unsecure in operation the CEM25P. With a more clear and logical described process this wouldn’t have been happening.
- PARAMOUNT is balancing DEC and RA. When I switch from a 2 inch eyepiece to the camera or a 1.25 inch eyepiece, I re-balance both axes. Due to its light weight, for me it’s the greatest tradeoff in using the CEM25P.
I use the CEM25P with an Sky-Watcher 100/900 ED pro, a Eagle core and a Nikon 5600 DSLR. Baader zoom, and Barlow 2.25x. De mount works fine.
